Miley Cyrus

So my first introduction to Miley Cyrus was the Hannah Montana T.V. show. I was babysitting my 4 year old niece and she wanted to watch the Hannah Montana show. I had heard of Hannah Montana, but didn't know anything about it. She said it was on the Disney Channel so we flipped it on and started watching. The first thing I remember thinking was, "Hey, that Billy Ray Cyrus without a mullet." I didn't put it together until later that the girl playing Hannah Montana was his daughter. We finished watching the show and it was pretty good. Somehow clever in some parts and I found myself chuckling a couple of times. It wasn't until much later that I found out that Miley Cyrus actually did some singing for real.

Since then I've become quite acquainted with the Hannah Montana show as I have watched it with my niece quite a bit. I have also become more acquainted with Miley Cyrus's music and must say that there is one particular song that I enjoy quite a bit.

In 2009 "Hannah Montana: The Movie" was released. The film is about Miley Stewart, the girl in the Hannah Montana shows played by Miley Cyrus. The premise of the Hannah Montana character is that Miley is a great singer, but wants to have a normal life, go to school, date, have friends etc. She doesn't think that she can do this if she becomes a famous rock star, so she has created this alternate identity. She puts on a blond wig and becomes Hannah Montana. All her fans don't know that she is really Miley Stewart, so she can go to school, the mall, and the beach without her thousands of fans being all around. Only a select few know that Miley is really Hannah Montana. In the film, Hannah Montana is becoming so popular that it is beginning to take over Miley's life. Her father sends her to her hometown, Crowley Corners in Tennessee to get some perspective on life an what really matters.

One of the songs from the movie sung by Miley and on the soundtrack is "The Climb." It is by far my favorite Miley Cyrus song. It was all over the radio stations and was a top 40 hit. It peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Top 100.

The last season of Hannah Montana ended it's run on The Disney Channel on January 16, 2011, but I'm sure we will be hearing lots from Miley Cyrus for many years to come.
